If you are interested in wildlife photography in an unspoilt rural location this is the place for you. Professional wildlife photographer, naturalist & botanist Marek Kosinski is in a unique position to show you the best locations from which to photograph wild bison, numerous bird species and the totally unspoilt protected area of Bialowieza Forest. Here you will witness total silence amongst giant Oak, Spruce & Hornbeam and when these giant trees eventually die and fall this is where they lay to decompose and provide continued shelter and habitat for insects and other animal life. Having just returned home to the UK from a six day trip which was organized by Professional British wildlife and nature photographer Robert Canis www.robertcanis.com and with guidance by Marek whose knowledge of the area is outstanding. Marek soon located a herd of Wild Bison in a vast meadow where feed is provided and we were soon in a position to photograph these magnificent animals. We were able to spend time in Mareks garden bird hide where we photographed Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Jay, Brambling, Hawfinch and Yellowhammer against a natural backdrop. Foteliki wygodne. Jedzenie dla ptaków wyłożone w dobrej odległości. Dziesięć godzin cierpliwości i trzy spotkania z bielikami. W zasadzie powiniennem być dłużej - przeciez nastepnego dnia napewno pokazały by jeszcze więcej. Niestety nie mogłem. Przyznam też, że byłem juz zmęczony. Karmnik leśny: Miałem mało czasu - 2 godziny do wyjazdu. Marek Fijałkowski, Polska, Luty 2012 I visited Bialowieza the first week of June 2011. With Marek as my guide, I have seen parts of the wood a normal tourist would never seen. The weather was perfect. Although landscape photography in the woods is not easy, I managed to make some nice shots with the help of Marek. The bison is in the summer difficult to catch. Marek knew the nests of the Three-toed Woodpecker and the Middle spotted Woodpecker and we took pictures of them feeding their chicks. Together we made a trip on an artificial lake, Siemianowka with lots of waterfowl. There I took pictures of the Common Tern, the Herring gull, the Black-headed gull, Great white Egret, the Little Ringed Plover etc. Marek has a hide in his garden and one evening we both took pictures of a Stone Marten. Because I was alone, I stayed in a studio in his house and the hospitality of his family was great. All things together, I had a great week and hope to visit Bialowieza again in the winter. The trip was booked via Han Bouwmeester site Rob de Jonge, The Netherlands, June 2011 We visited the Biebrza area with Marek in April 2011 – to see Ruff, Eagles, Raven, Snipe, Woodpeckers, Bluethroat, and of course Elk. The weather was great, the Marigolds just started to bloom, Marek showed us all the right places and put up effective hides, and we came away with very satisfying pictures including some species we had not counted on before (Penduline Tit, Wryneck). Lodging was simple but good, with excellent food and a friendly host. All in all a very enjoyable and successful week – thanks to Marek and the wonderful Biebrza environment. The trip was booked via Han Bouwmeester site Peter and Renee Overbosch, The Netherlands, April 2011 www.overbosch.de In January and February 2011 I went for one week to Bialowieza with Marek Kosinski for Bison and bird photography. Marek is a great host and very flexible in our requirements. In January we had a lot of fun taking pictures of the Nutcracker, it was gone in February, but then a dozen of Hawfinches were fighting with each other for food. That is always a good subject for taking pictures. Photographing the White-tailed Eagle was great, but very cold. But of course, a little bit of suffering is part of this hobby. Seeing the results makes you forget the cold quickly though. The accommodation in a cottage in the little town of Masiewo was great and the Polish food at the home of a local residence was really good. Both trips were very much worth doing, thank you Marek. Maybe well meet again…. Alfons van Bokhorst, The Netherlands, March 2011 www.natuurbeleving.eu We went on a 5-day wintertrip with Marek in February 2011. On this trip we were able to photograph bisons, wild boar, fox, white tailed eagle, a lot of small birds and even an unexpected golden eagle. The photographic opportunities were pretty good. Marek showed us some beautiful places and he was flexible to change program to our wishes. Alltogether, we had a great time in a cold and beautiful Poland! Marek, thanks a lot. We'll meet again. Otto Heijst, The Netherlands, February 2011 www.ottoheijst.com We had a great time in Bialowieza. We were able to make nice pictures of both the Bison and the White tailed Eagle. The circumstances were good. When we arrived the snow had almost disappeared, but later there was some fresh snow fallen. This gave a special touch to the surrounding (and to the pictures). The facilities were very good (housing and food, Hides in the field and garden). And last but not least we enjoyed the professional and pleasant guidance of Marek. The trip was booked via Han Bouwmeester site Sjaak Verboom, The Netherlands, January 2011 www.deplantage.info Off we went towards the extreme east of Bialowieza in Poland to photograph white-tailed eagles and bison. Our visions of bison in the swirling snow, however, soon proved an illusion because the weather did not really want to cooperate because of the thaw. However through the efforts of our guide: Marek Kosinski and the optimism of my friends: Jacques van der Neut and Fons van Bokhorst we have made it a successful week. On the first two days we were searching for the bison. It rained a little and the contrast in the field was not great and the ISO was also further boosted. Bison are big animals and should be approached cautiously because they are wild and therefore always somewhat unpredictable. The next two days we spent sitting in the hides prepared for white-tailed eagles. On the first day I counted no fewer than nine birds but unfortunately they were not really planning to land near the hides. These migrants are quite shy and so we had to stay very quiet and make no sudden movements. On the second day they proved to be more hungry so we took more pictures and the light was better that day. And finally the last day we spent in the hide in the Marek’s garden. The weather was dull but the place was visited by various birds, including: nutcracker, chaffinch, jay, great spotted woodpecker, great tit, blue tit, tree creeper, greenfinch, yellowhammer and tree sparrow. It was a well-organized trip. Marek is very helpful and friendly. The accommodation was very pleasant and we could experience typical Polish hospitality. Kees Repelius, The Netherlands, January 2011 www.keesrepelius.nl Since my childhood I was stuck by the fascinating story of the Bialowieza Forest and its dominant inhabitant, the European Bison or Wisent. It took more than 50 years before my dreams came true when I met Marek Kosinski, a talented and perfect English speaking guide in February 2010. I was his first foreign guest and we had a good match together. Earlier we had been mailing on snow conditions as my wish was to film wisents in the snow. And snow there was! The wisents were not easy to track but Marek was as excited as I was and at last we found them. Afterwards we have seen the wisents quite a few times with good filming opportunities. We also sat together in one of the small hides when the snowflocks kept coming down all day. At the end there was a real blizzard with 50 centimeters of snow. There was so much snow that we could not find our jeep! But we managed to film the white-tailed eagles very closely, sometimes not more than 3 meters! Later on I got wonderful footage of a beaver on the ice and the nutcracker cracking its nuts. Also otter and fox made their appearance. Please have a look for a short trailer of this film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dulyqA_pPbw which is also for sale. Thank you Marek, you are a great guy. Hans Rademakers, The Netherlands. Zaplanowane wcześniej 3 dni zajęć terenowych (z niewielką dawką teorii) minęły dość intensywnie i były naprawdę dobrą okazją do poszerzenia wiedzy o fotografii. Grzegorz Zieleniec, Polska, Luty 2009 |
